Thunder Bay, Ontario, Great White North
Depends on how lucky you are, and how well the security people are doing their jobs. I've been through airport security four or five times in the past year with a 4" folding shear/knife contraption in my carry-on, forgot it was in there the first time, the next few times I guess I was testing the system, and it failed. A nice chap finally discovered it in Toronto in January, was simply asked to check the bag as luggage and come through security again.
Canadian rules, as far as I know, mirror US rules. I don't want it to be any more difficult to fly than it is, but the system clearly leaves a bunch to be desired.
