Use hot water and dawn to clean it right before you use it. When you’re done stuffing with it wash again with really hot water and dawn. If you’re afraid of it rusting between uses wipe it down with cooking oil or lard, then repeat cleaning process for next use. That’s how most of them in our neighborhood survived through the decades
