Subject: Are CV PTO shafts nessacery?

East Texas
Have Deere balers and batwings that have CV pto shafts from tractor to implement that get greased and kept inside out of the weather but we still wear them out every few years.

My Heston 4910 big square baler just has a simple heavy built solid regular PTO with a simple single ujoint cross. This has lasted fine and has 300 hp pulling it turning all day. There’s no noticible vibration.

Could these high dollar CV shafts that are cost prohibitive to rebuild be replaced with a heavier solid driveline like my big baler? At least if they got play a simple ujoint would solve it.
