Farming in NW Iowa | A couple of friends bought a 6000 John Deere HiBoy sprayer. Mostly for using to apply foliar and maybe side dressing corn with liquid nitrogen. I've been checking it over for them and may possibly use it for side dressing some corn later on.
It has a Micro Trak 3000 controller. It has a switch in the cab that activates a solenoid valve down by the sprayer pump. There is a 3/8 hose coming off it that goes to the rear of the sprayer tank, with a 1/4 turn ball shutoff valve between the tank and the pump. The previous owner didn't really know what it did. Water flows through that hos with the switch off or on. Turning it off or on doesn't change pressure much, and there's also a ball valve behind it to limit agitation flow. Any ideas what this is for? I've read here about issues getting the pump to prime when the tank is run empty. Is that what this if for?
