I know that the NAT approved solution is to kill the trees, but I'd rather make a deep cut and loop the tile around the other side of the farmstead than get rid of the shelter belt.


Well there goes my suggestion then. Since you don’t want to get rid of the trees I’d do what you suggested doing other wise you will constantly fight the roots.

My dad fought a sewer line where I live for the nearly 30 years when he lived here, culprit box elder tree directly above sewer line. He was constantly fighting sewer getting into the basement. Dad died in the summer of “‘83” and we moved back onto the place that fall. I cut down the dumb tree that fall, hired a rotor router guy to bore out the line and have never had an issue with tree roots since.
