North Central Illinois | I planted a shelterbelt of spruce trees on the west side of my farmstead 10 years ago. There's a 4" clay tile line directly under the tree line for 100 yards. The tree at the uphill end finally caught up with me and plugged the tile this spring.
The line drains about 2 acres that pond, and about 10-12 acres slope in that direction. Is a non perforated line right next to the tree line a suitable permanent solution?
In the meantime, is there anything I can do to deter roots from growing into the existing line?
I know that the NAT approved solution is to kill the trees, but I'd rather make a deep cut and loop the tile around the other side of the farmstead than get rid of the shelter belt.
Edit to add. Blue is existing tile. Red is possible alternate route, but eyeball survey says it'd have to be 8+' deep for 100 yards.
