Nw Iowa
We went thru it last year, 170 but mostly 120-150 bu corn planted June 1. Some of it planted into too wet conditions. Started out nice but than got bombed by too much rain. We had a normal frost date if not even a week or 10 days late. Most of it was around 50-52 pound test weight and 22-23 percent. All was good quality ground. Normal aph is around 205-210. We quit planting this year a couple of days prior to June 1, got rained out till about 5th, did not plant anymore corn. We have replanted some holes till June 11. Right now even our early stuff looks like it has along to go.
If you go back and look at our records our early planted corn is what pays the bills. It can look kind of tough, be alittle uneven and and even be alittle yellow but seems it just has extra time to make yield. If year in and year out we planted all our corn at the end of May we would be out of business. We typically fight wet cold weather until middle of May so late planting shouldn’t be much of a yield drag but there is.
