Subject: RE: Killing thistle in pasture

Southern Iowa

I've been using Grazon Next HL with a splash of Liberate in an ATV sprayer on areas that I don't want to broadcast spray.  Kills Canada, Must, and Bull thistles.  If the must thistle get headed out before I get to them I keep a 5-gal bucket with me, pull all open blooms, and then spray..... burn heads later.

The must thistle seed seems to stay in the ground for a long time.  If I doze an area or burn a brush pile you can be sure you'll have lots sprouting up for a year or two and have to keep after them.
Once grass takes over again they can't compete very well and problem diminishes.
