Sanilac Co. Michigan | I had kind of a hard time this spring with weed control in my oats. Did a pre plant app of 1.5 oz of Sharpen to get some shephards purse and mares tail, but it was either too cold, or too wet, or I drilled it too soon and it came through. Followed up with 8 oz of lv6 sometime after the 3 leaf stage and still had poor control due to the cold, wet weather...I think. Finally went in with a full rate of Widematch a bit before jointing and that turned the trick. Destroyed the marestail and all those little weeds.
That's my story. Now, 3 ft tall oats might be a bit far along. Widematch has a pretty big window, but if your oats aren't in the boot stage yet, you might be ok and it does kill Marestail. Otherwise, there's just not much else at this stage that will help.
Need to add, whatever you spray will likely kill the peas. | |
