King City, Mo | We put our popcorn in mid April. It turned wet and cold and still came up good. It doesn’t grow as fast as the field corn that we have as buffers around it. Got 24 rows around the field of LL/RR short season corn to lessen the oops of drift from neighbors and not be as stressed spraying around the popcorn.
Had another kettle corn guy switch to ours and said it is the best popping stuff he’s had. Said his wife tells everybody it’s missouri grown and our name when they ask.
The kernels just aren’t moving like the popped and the real money isn’t in growing it Is in popping it. When you can turn 6 cups (3#) of popcorn into $30+It’s a good thing. Cotton candy is better as you buy sugar by the pound and sell it by the ounce....
