ontario | Nick it makes good cow feed , just cut before heading or it's too stemy and cows sort it. Hard if not impossible to make dry in Ontario weather. I think you would need to somehow destroy the crop before planting wheat or regrowth will be a problem especially if planting early . Tillage might be enough followed by cool fall weather. First frost will end it. Yields are great in a warm summer ,I've never tried it in a cool wet one but I'm going to this year so I'm with you in this experiment. Don't spare the N, needs the same as silage corn. Plant lots 30 lbs+ to keep stems fine, 1" deep is enough. | |
