Many years ago we were @ a co-op meeting dinner . Dad , 2 neighbors and my self sitting around visiting . Dad had retired as well as the other neighbors . One neighbor in his late 80's was naping in his chair , Dad and other neighbor spaaring with each other as was their usual banter.
"Frank ,I see you are out running tractor again " , "Why are you working , you are retired " Dad replied "for $5 and hour , that's why " Neighber says , "well you don't need it and you can't take it with you " , "Oh yes I can , I'm taking travelers checks ! " At that moment the late 80's neighbor who we thought was sleeping , spoke up cleared his throat and said ...... "You better have them printed on asbestos ! " :>)
My father was a fair man , his word was his bond . But he was not one to make it "easy" just possible. | |
