To the hay guy, you have a reasonable gripe... But really if you still raise hay you have to be used to these kinds of rule changes!


When was the last time a law was changed like what is being proposed today?

PS. releasing CRP isn't a law change, it's already in the rule book.

There are already ways for a guy to take a lesser pp payment if they want to grow a crop, no need to change any laws already on the books.


This is pretty much sums it up. The PP rules already cut plenty of slack to the livestock producer. I have been grazing small grain cover crop in the mud for the last 5 weeks. Can hay the rest of it as long as I get it done by the end of the late planting period. Then seed a cover crop to hay or graze after November 1. That's not really locking me out of much of the growing season.

To the OP's question, yes, farmers do like to complain. Even when we are actually fairly satisfied with life.
