Subject: Prevent Plant plan

Morris, IL
What is everyone doing with prevent plant acres?

We are 2/3 PP this year. Yeah it’s been a fun spring, fight is over now for most part we waved white flag today on all but 80 acres. We planted corn till June 10th and beans 11-14th. Raining now and they are saying few inches by weekend on top of 2” last week.

Most of these acres will be corn 2020 and don’t want to screw it up. Most say oats mix that will winter kill. Saw something from university of Illinois saying plant beans ahead of corn, like long season bin run non gmo beans. I have 15” drill/planter will use. Main concern is how or when do I strip till for 2020 and when to seed oats or what is best?

Prevent plant field that will go to beans 2020 will plant oats and just no till in spring 2020.

Another farm we are going to build/fix some water ways. If we do that in July let’s say and seed oats July 15 or after. Thinking if I inter seeded waterway mix September and mowed oats down would have best shot ever get established.

Does this sound like pretty good plan. What is everyone else doing?
