| I'm not a no_tiller but not so sure that tillage was an advantage this year. Like most, to get the corn planted, we pushed the envelope on working ground in less than ideal conditions. Our early planted corn, at lest for this year, was late May. Came up & looked great but is sure showing signs of working ground wet. Can see every track the tillage tractor made. This is n grid tiled ground. Worst field of corn I have was tiled last Jan. You can see every track the tile plow, on tracks, stringer trucks , & backhoes made , as well as tillage tractor & sprayer. Corn is about as yellow as a pad of yellow legal paper. Corn was sidedressed with AA about 10 days ago, showing a little improvement but still looks like crap. Neighbor no-tilled is corn & is looking much better though it is at least a couple weeks behind.
Did no-till, or sort of, beans into stalks that had a VT tool ran on them last fall. Generally speaking they're looking better than our conventional tilled beans planted around the same time. | |
