East Central S.D. | We have a cable fence bunk line and don’t like it. Calves stretch the cable and learn to climb through and cable wears so you replace a short piece then calves stretch cable and it pops out of the splice clamps and the cable frays. I like the guard rail idea but would probably do pipe if I did it again. Also we poured an extra skirt to drive on along the bunks (we have a drop spout and if the feed wagon sinks in along the bunks the spout gets beat up) that I definitely like. Edit the bunks are set up ~2.5” from where the calves stand. And I’d also prefer straight back bunks, cleaning feed spills and snow along angles back bunks is a pain (hurts the top edge of the bunk) and the stuff you can’t scrape grows weeds.
