East Central SD | The Crazy Horse Volksmarch is held in the first part of June each year and is an organized 10K hike (up and back). It is a two day event and this was the 34th annual... the website lists the record attendance at 15,000. To my knowledge this weekend and one day in the fall during the Custer Buffalo Roundup are the only times tourists are allowed on the mountain. One of my favorite things to do is hiking in the Hills, this was my third time up Crazy Horse. If you'd like a little more of a workout I'd recommend the Sunday Gulch trail or hiking to the top of Little Devils Tower :-). Kevin | |
