I've used "sumif" formulas for that some of that sort of thing, but the master sheet has to be of a set size. I just make it bigger than I will ever possibly need to begin with, so there is plenty of extra room to add new entries. I also use drop down lists for some things to assure every entry gets counted, otherwise a typo on a name could result in the entry not being counted.
