Subject: RE: Purple corn

NC Kansas
It’s not phos deficient. Some hybrids build up anthecyanins (type of sugar) and therefore purple up in color. If there’s poor growing conditions that suddenly turn good photosynthesis Ramps up and creates this temporary buildup of sugars that have nowhere to go because leaf area is limited. Never have seen it hurt corn and is more common in pioneer varieties.
