Pretty much what Dave said above is what will happen. As for killing it in the spring, plenty of folks with a partly winterkilled wheat stand get it dead somehow.

I'd agree with Bugkiller. There are a lot of other economical options. But, if you have some wheat in the bin and money is tight, it sure would beat bare dirt.
