Nw Iowa | We have had two really wet springs here with a lot of heavy rains 2 yrs prior. We are in a cycle where some farms that used to be top yielders are now poor yielders. Really difficult to come up with fair rents. Funny in a dry year cycle nobody minds the bottom ground that out yields everything and than you have 3 or 4 yrs like this. I have heard rumors some are paying on harvested acres. May be fair until cycle changes. I don’t think rents will be down at all next year with these commodity prices. Problem is everybody and their brother will be raising more corn acres and price could be very disappointing next fall. Probably harder than ever to figure what is fair. Once again I think you guys are dreaming that rents will get cheaper next year, especially if we see a 5 in front of the corn price. | |
