nw NC | My wife is originally from Minnesota. After we married in 2004, I made my first trip to Minnesota in 2006 to visit her family and see the sights . One day we went to Duluth . We did the harbor tour and the Great Lakes Aquarium. On a later trip we drove on up 61 as far as Silver Bay. Several interesting stops along that drive. Two Harbors has several interesting sights . Betty's Pies is a little farther up. Just beyond Betty's take a left on 3 , go about a mile to Northern Rail Traincar Inn, a motel made from boxcars. Farther on up 61 is Gooseberry Falls State Park. On farther is Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. We went as far as Silver Bay and then back south.
