A guy we do some business with in west central minnesota sold a white 24 row planter to a guy over 250 miles, against his better judgement, but the purchaser was most insistent, so he made the deal. When they got to negotiating about delivery the customer said he’d take care of it.
So one early spring day the customer calls and said he’d be arriving such and such day, with the trade in and to pickup the new planter. So the day arrived the dealer thought the guy would be arriving midday or so, but he was a early riser and got to the dealership quite early, and there sat a tractor with a older white planter, with a guy sitting in the seat sleeping.
Turns out it was the customer, he had taken two days to get to the dealership with the tractor and planter. So the guys at the dealership hooked up his new planter, had a small field nearby that they used for tuning up planters, got it all turned in, fueled the customer up, and he headed back home. All in all I think the round trip was almost 600 miles.
