Subject: wifi phones again

I researched wifi phones 7-8 years ago and went with the ooma phone. Very high quality phone service. It cost me $3-4 a month. It was good if you wanted 911 service. We moved on and got smartphones and I wondered if we really needed 911. I decided to try for something else.

I researched VOIP phones again without 911 2 years ago. I decided to go with a OBi202 2 port VOIP phone. You control the OBi phone with Google Voice. I put Google Voice app on both smart phones. I put a cordless phone on each port and gave each Google Voice app on each phone a phone number hooked to a port on the OBi 202. The OBi costs nothing but the up front cost of the hockey puck. Phone calls are free unless you pay for 911 through a different company that was half the cost of the ooma. The call quality is 95% of the quality of the OOma. If you travel overseas, you can take the hockey puck, hook it up to ethernet (or wifi with a dongle) and call back to the US for free. We give out these numbers sometimes to people that need a phone number when we do not want them to have our cell. We mostly use this phone to call into teleconferences. So 2 at one time.
