Definitely not illegal in North Dakota, they are everywhere. Here you need a breakaway between the 2 tanks IF you leave the hoses hooked up on the road, NO rigid plumbing outside the safety cages. We put a t on the front tank withdrawal valve, one hose goes to the tool bar, other is a hose that runs to the rear axle on the front tank where we have a breakaway mounted that the rear tank connects. I will get some pics tomorrow, we have several sets hooked one behind the other. The side by sides are nice but considerably more money
