CEC effects how much N should be applied at once. I've always heard 10 lbs of N per 1 CEC. My best ground is a CEC of 8 and I sidedress with untreated liquid less than 24hrs before a rain if at all possible. Plenty of people around here use treated urea, but either way timing before a rain is best.
