I appreciate your viewpoint and do have cows with spring calves on them that could probably put the protein to good use now. However the other forage available to them is not in as easy a place to bale for baleage. With the hay situation this past winter my emphasis right now is building up as close to a 2-year supply of wrapped winter feed as I can. I'm starting from scratch as far as baleage reserves go. If letting this mix mature a bit more and wrapping it makes a dramatic increase in tonnage with still decent protein that's probably my best choice at this time.
