Looks like I need to get it into low speed...

I've always had my impeller on high speed. Don't know if you can flip those gears to use the sharp side or not, but I don't worry about it because if those gear teeth ever wear off, I'm sure I'll have a lot more worn out first.

The amount of leaf loss from running the impeller at high speed vs low speed isn't that much.

High speed: 1.7% to 3.4% more leaf loss than rolls
Low speed: 1.2% to 2.2% more leaf loss than rolls

Dry down times are substantially faster with high speed vs low speed. Also, initial dry down times with impeller are faster than rolls according to the study I'm referencing.

In the first day of drying, forage (both grass and alfalfa) conditioned by aggressively-set impeller machines exhibited drying rates 23 to63% greater than drying rates of forage conditioned by the aggressively-set intermeshing roll conditioner
