Scottville, 49454 Northwest Michigan

A couple thoughts....

I would talk with the seed dealer that sold you the seed.  He or she, or the company agronomist, should know what diseases the variety is susceptible to, the history of those potential diseases for your area, and the best timing of a fungicide application to address those potential diseases.

Based on that information, then you will be able to make an informed decision.

And I will say... be prepared to hear an answer suggesting the tassel time application is your best bet for a return on investment with a fungicide.  Personally... if that's the case, and you're serious about wanting to run some test strips, and if there is a custom operator that will be doing some of that fungicide application in your area.... I would hire him to do those test strips.  If he's already in the area, hopefully he won't charge you too much to run some strips for you.  Either way the results come out... I'm confident the knowledge gained will outweigh the cost.

Good luck, and if you do decide to run some strips... please report back your results.
