I did exactly the same thing. After 20 years of running ragged on virtually no sleep, wrenching all night to be able to run the next day, I decided it wasn't worth it because either myself of my help was gonna get hurt or worse. I missed it tge friends I made for a while. Today I just shake my head at some of the stupid stuff I did then. Good luck!
