PeteMN - 6/10/2019 23:53 The other side of the story from the insurance company's perspective is that any vehicle waiting for the claim to be settled will often have parts missing (stolen) by the owner or by thieves, or by the guys at the impound yard. So the amount that the insurance company will likely get for the salvage item is seldom as high as the owner thinks it should be. Its surprising how often stuff is stolen (wheels/tires/motors/transmissions/rearends/roll tarps/etc) even if the item is stored in a licensed secure yard. Often the owners will take stuff off after the claims process has started. That loss has to come from somewhere.
