Subject: RE: Ruger Ranch 14

South Ga
Mini 14 can handle either cartridge according to the owners manual even though on the back of the receiver it says .223. The owners manual says the only mini 14 not suitable for 5.56 is the target model ( not sure if they still make those).
New model Mini 14s can shoot with and possibly better than many of those bargain basement priced ARs. All Mini 14s will work perfectly with real Ruger magazines, don’t buy imitations for whatever reason they usually aren’t very reliable. OEM mags work every time. They’re expensive but worth it because they will last a lifetime. I have two 20 round Ruger magazines that have been loaded since 1987 unless I’m shooting the rifle and they work just like new. I’ve got one 30 and one 20 round magazine that I’ve had loaded since 2012 that work like new also.
I prefer the feel and handling of a Mini over an AR.
My son recently bought a.300 Blackout Mini, I like it too, to the point of I think I’m going to get one for myself. Shooting.30 caliber holes in hogs works better than shooting.22 caliber holes in them.
The one with the suppressor is his .300, the one with the walnut stock is my new model one, I also have an earlier plain Mini 14( not a Ranch Rifle)
PS- Mini 14 will eat cheap Russian steel case ammo like candy, AR, not so much.
