We are doing some of that, no a disk won't leave a seedbed ready to plant into like a Foo Foo disk will but we are using a $6,500 32' 496 disk pulled with a 2wd 5488 and plan on making a spring pass anyway.

The earlier in the fall you can get it disked the more the stalks will decompose and will be easier to get through the field cultivator.

We ran a 21' 820 for a long time and thought it was a good disk but our 496 that's completely worn out does a much better job.


Appreciate that comparison of the disks cliff. Does a 496 have 7” spacing all around or 9” or both like an 820?
