PROSPECT, TENNESSEE | Really depends on the quality of the seed. The fall of '18 here didn't allow for many beans to be harvested in a timely manner, thus most of the seed I have handled is of poor quality this year. I tested the germ on my seed when it arrived. It was tagged 80% but actually tested 85%, 87%, and 89%, but the seed looked rough, and fragile. I use brush meters and after only a 100 units of seed, my population started falling. Long story short, brushes full of splits, seed falling out of plates......
I guess what im saying, saving seed another year depends on the quality of the seed, I have saved some that were treated, tested the germ the next spring and it be within 1 to 2 % of tagged germination. I have also seen some be less than 25%.......
Untreated, non gmo, I probably would dump them and start over if seed was available. | |
