Subject: RE: June 6, 1944

We had a local gentleman who has since passed who was a "Pathfinder" . They jumped into the Normandy area the night before the invasion to set up landing lights for the glider troops, the paratroopers, create havoc, seize bridges etc. He said how everything was messed up in the dark, troops dropped miles from their intended drop zones. He told the story of when he was crawling through a hedgerow in the dark something poked him in the face, between the eyes. It was a gun barrel... still held by a dead German soldier. RIP Harold K.
