So i know that the 4 big dogs are currently being sued by R-Calf and another one involving 4 ranchers. I have cattle that i am trying to market and the bids put me at about breakeven (without hedge) while they are estimated to net around $200/hd profit. When is this going to change? What do we need to do? I for one am tired of it. I live pretty frugally and would like to be paid a decent wage for my work and the risk i am taking financially. Who approves these buyouts that further monopolize this industry? It's no wonder that they don't try to grow vertically by buying/building feedlots. Why would they when they can steal these cattle from us.
I can't just say no thanks your bid sucks, i'll wait a month when i have bills to pay and running out of feed and the bids just continue to drop week after week.
On a separate note, did the meat board move this year to $1.50 per hd sold? I thought it was always $1? More money for them to let all this continue unopposed.

what happen to the $200 profit? Kinda lost on your post?
