Subject: S.I. meter experts

Morris, IL
I have new to me drill this year it’s an IH 5400 soybean special. It came with S.I. meter on it. Rebuilt the drill top to bottom including new belts and both brushes in meters.

Finally got my hands on one of SI’s screens for testing. Have 5 different beans this year range from 2400 to 2800 seeds per pound. I filled the screen level full and shake. 2800 I had 25 left when I finished. The 2400 I had 50-60 left in it. The 2400 clearly were egg shaped and some were just plain big.

Does this seem like will be problem? I can plant with JD vacuum if have too but it’s late rather just drill them all. Just bought drill in April so I wasn’t able to give dealer any forward notice. This drill has monitor that should tell me what is going on with every row so not like i’m completely blind setting rate.

Really wasn’t looking for S.I. meters wanted cups but it had them. I have some part to switch back but doesn’t seem like all of them. Thanks in advance.
