Increasing population won't do anything to change pollination time, that is determined by GDU's. Later planted corn gets taller anyway. It also takes fewer GDU's than earlier planted corn of the same hybrid to reach maturity.

Well which way is it??? On one hand your saying gdu is a hard number, then at the end your saying gdu change. Corn is going to put on a fairly set number of leaves before flowering. Followed by trying to fill kernals. Population will affect leaf area index of each plant. Population and fertility need to match.

I know gdu is not a hard and fast number, there are interactions of temperature, solar radiation, and moisture efficiencies. So yes, i think population has a degree of influence in conjunction with several other factors.
