Subject: Mudding It In... Planter Setup??

Northern Illinois
If a person is considering mudding some corn in how would you set up the planter?

Strip Till corn on corn. Strip made last fall. John Deere 1770 planter. Currently planter has shark tooth row cleaners, 13 wave coulters, pneumatic down force, original JD rubber press wheels. Normally I run about 35 psi on my down force. I have the closing wheels set at the 2nd from the most pressure.

I need the HP in the fall to pull the strip till bar so I have plenty of HP on the planter. JD 8430 on a 12 row planter. I believe the tractor will pull the planter without getting stuck or tearing up the field. I wonder what the proper planter setup would be to attempt to get the seed in the ground, the seed covered up and not mud up the planter. Thinking backing the downforce back from 35 psi to about 20 psi (or lower), setting the press wheels to the 2nd from least down pressure and seeing what will happen. Should I take the coulters off before I even try it?
