| Des Moines sitll has channels 5, 8, 11 and 13 on VHF. At the first months of changing to digital TV they all went to UHF supposedly HD channels but after adjusting their original VHF antennas they moved back to their original channels. Des Moines also has had channel 17 (on channel 16), 19, 23, and 39 (on channel 36).
HD antennas are only good for UHF and ignore the stations that returned to their original VHF channels. Here it takes a VHF/UHF combined antenna for digital TV.
Channel 17 has been off the air for a week. A couple days ago a fellow working on the feedline up their tower fell 1000 feet so repair progress is going much slower now.
