Here is a scenario of how a triple mower works out, I know there are a few if's but if you already have a 250hp or higher tractor that you plan on keeping, or if you are looking to get one that size anyway, a front 3 point and PTO is around 15,000 good low acre mowers can be had for under 40 with conditioners, even less depending on how many acres you need to do a year and if your willing to do some maintenance. So >55,000 gets you going, it's not hard to drop the mowers to use the tractor for other things, maintenance is theoretically less because each section is covering less ground and you can consistently get 30+ acres an hour unless you have really small cut up fields with lots of obstacles. If you don't already have guidance that will add to the cost, but that would still have to be added to a self propelled too unless you freehand it. Again it may not fit for you but it's not something that should be immediately dismissed either.
