Southeast PA | I don't know how you justify it, unless perhaps you are short on tractors already, and have a lot of smaller fields and stuff to mow around. They are much handier in that regard than a pull type. Triples would make quick work of that stuff also, but not as nice to mow around stand pipes and in terraces (I've never ran a triple unfortunately) so I'm just going by my observations.
We used to have an sp and pull type at work, during rye we would rent the neighbors pull type also. Now we only have a pull type and get a custom guy in with 2 triple mowers to mow it all.
Edit to add: Also, if you have a bad back or neck, you don't have to look behind you in an sp, and you can cut 10-15% more per hour with an sp than the same size pull type.
