Subject: RE: Removing IH Rear Wheel Wedges

Here is what I do......wedges on the bottom, tractor jacked up of-course. Back out the wedge bolt, usually one will pop loose after running it out some. I take my air hammer with a long punch I bought from snap on and hammer the wedge still tight after removing the one that came loose, usually a few hits and it pops loose. Have done that for years. I recently got a tractor that had the factory horseshoe tool......so I tried it, after fighting with that on one wheel, I went back to my method on the other and it was a lot easier. Some times if neither come loose, run out the wedge bolt, lay a brass hammer on the end of the bolt and them hammer on the brass with the air hammer and that pops the inner one easily, then you can hammer out the outer one. I think it's a easy way to take them out, but that is my opinion, some may disagree.
