Subject: RE: leaking roof

south east SD
Our house built in the early 50's, added 10 feet of kitchen and a big garage in 1995 south side to a story and half house.

Christmas day 2017 I think we had a hard driving rain in SD from the south and got a leak in the kitchen ceiling. I have a tin roof so it wasn't leaking there. Had my neighbor who is a contractor give it a good look over and he did some stuff but could still leak?

Talked to the lumber yard about what to do, caulk, spray foam or other ideas?

The first thing the lumber yard guy says is to at the wall above the roof and check for leaks getting behind the siding.

Went home and there is 2 windows above the roof line, caulked them up good and the problem went away. Had son come over and we redid all the windows in the house. Some are high enough that we used a loader to get to them.

Good Luck
