Personally I believe it's a blip on the radar for this planet. This isn't severe. The ice age, now that was severe. Humans didn't cause the ice age to end and we aren't causing what's happening now. The earth has been changing since it started. And scientists don't know of every change since it started(although they might pretend) and they can't predict what will happen in the future.
