Many of the polled genes are believed by many to be connected to a weak retractor muscle and leads to increased prepuce prolapse and potentially other injuries.

Obviously the polled gene has significant value, so there's not a lot of research behind just how much was lost by concentrating on reproducing the polled bloodlines throughout the various breeds and industry.
