| Looks like the livestocks folks get the shaft yet again. Look at the recent drop in both hogs and cattle at about the same time that ASF was in full swing and proteins should have no reason to decline so much. We all know what the dairy industry has had to face. Don't tell me about the hedging a person could have done, i did that and still looking at a loss. Oh wait, there is 1 billion (or less than 10%) dollars set aside to purchase livestock commodities. I'm sure that will trickle down to the farmer in better prices. Plus with grains you have a safety blanket with revenue crop insurance. It's of little surprise that young farmers don't care to get into livestock what with the uphill battle. Rant over | |
