Subject: Can a hydraulic cylinder be used as an accumulator

What is a PFC pump? I also have a hydraulic regulator which is adjustable 80-2000 PSI.most hydraulic engineers say it will produce too much heat.I can install a smaller pump to possibly over come this draw back.I've thought about using compressed air but the necessary pull back may not be adequate unless I can jack the press. to 1000 lbs. or so.
