It's very similar to the masculine produces feminine theory.

Measure a bulls track width in the front and compare it to his rear track measurement. Measure a bulls heart girth and compare it to his flank girth. Masculine bulls often tend to appear as a wedge from the side profile, as well as from above, with the thick part of the wedge being the front. They produce females with angular fronts with rear tracks widths wider than their front track width and heart girths slightly smaller than their flank girths. When viewed from the side and above their wedge shapes are the reverse of the bulls. The theory is greatly exaggerated in the wild Bison population where mother nature still rules.

I tend to believe it's why many clubby bred androgynous type of animals you often see heavily promoted are of little value in the real world. They are nice to look at and serve their purpose well, but they lack the tools to maintain a genetic line over time. Big reared bulls with nice clean fronts are simply the polar opposite of what natural selection has shown to be fertile and functional. Many commercial guys are guilty of this as well with their "he looks hard calving" mantra.

You can see the same theory playing out in certain segments of the human population if you look for it. Pick out a couple very successful linebackers of the past and search out pictures of their daughters. Do the same with the polar opposite type of male build and compare his daughters to the linebackers. If we were still running from and hunting wild animals it's not hard to see which genetic lines would survive on their masculinity and fertility.
