Guide bushings or drill bushings are for alignment and can be made out of various materials from bronze to Teflan to gray iron, etc. Sounds like you need to talk to a fluid power company or votech school that has a hydraulic/pneumatic program and ask them for advice. With core bits you need some type of mechanism that controls the feed rate regardless of the other variables. On CNC lathes you calculate the speed(surface rate/minute) and the feed rate that you want to start with and depending on the power draw if the power draw was too high then you'd back off the feed rate, if the power draw was low then you'd increase the feed rate. If the cutting bit got dull or chipped then you'd see it because power draw jumped. What have drilling companies been using, seems like somebody must have already developed something for this situation? | |
